respect your elders

Respect Your Elders
October, 2012

Designed as an intervention in response to the decline of a personal connection with trees within our natural environment. This project was carried out by making identity signs for which estimated the age of elderly trees to signify their life, wisdom, and value. These signs were placed in Mont Royal Park in Montreal, Quebec. The typography was burned onto recycled birch bark. The frames were made out of found branches and hemp rope. The signs were designed to be able to naturally decompose into the earth in the case that it falls down due to weather.
